Redirect old domain to a new one

It happens from time to time that you want to switch your domain, but still want to keep the indexed pages from google, or if people has been linking to your domain. To do this you need to make a 'redirect' of the domain.

This is fairly simple, and it only requires that you log into FTP, go to your document root, and create (or edit) the file called .htaccess.

In this file you need to put following:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

  RewriteEngine On

  RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mywebsite\.com$ [OR]
  RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.mywebsite\.com$
  RewriteRule (.*)$$1 [R=301,L]
